Meet Ana Ruth Y. Castillo
 

Ana Ruth Y. Castillo is an Art Therapist who is of service to children, youth, adults and families. She has worked in various community-based settings such as schools, free-clinics, and non-profits for over 15 years. Her undergraduate degree from UC Santa Cruz in Latin American and Latino Studies is a knowledge base from which she pieces the socio-political, economic, and cultural fabric of Latinx communities. Through this lens of cultural relevance and historical understanding, she developed programming in the healing arts (muralism, theater, & poetry) to support young adults to connect to their roots and express intergenerational resilience in community based organizations in Los Angeles. 

 

Ana Ruth earned her master’s degree at Loyola Marymount where she studied Marital and Family Therapy as well as Clinical Art Therapy as a way to combine her passion in community work and the healing arts. Through the study and practice of art therapy, she has committed her career to being of service to those who are on a journey of healing their past, present, and future. She brings forth her intuitive and therapeutic skills in order to attune to the emotional and mental needs of her clients.
